How to Make a Small Batch of Pear Scones in Your Air Fryer

Using your air fryer to make scones means that you can have a small batch of scones in minutes without heating up your kitchen or using as much electricity as you'd need for baking in a regular oven. Plus, these free-form, drop pear scones come out moist, tender, and with juicy bits of pear scattered through them. I like to make the scones for a little "dinner treat" during weeknights, but the scones are easy enough to make for breakfast, if you'd like. The scones are lightly spiced and include dried cranberries. They'd be equally good with raisins or chopped crystallized ginger. Or just go with the pears, alone. The scones really are a nice, simple treat. Enjoy!

Air Fryer Pear Scones -- Makes 4-6

1/2 cup of all-purpose flour

2 tablespoons of sugar

3/4 teaspoon of baking powder

1/8 teaspoon of salt

1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice

1 tablespoon of butter

1 tablespoon of canola oil

1/2 cup of chopped pear (1 small pear or 1/2 a large pear)

2-3 tablespoons of dried cranberries or raisins

1-2 teaspoon of milk, if necessary

Sugar to sprinkle

Cut small pieces of baking parchment to fit your air fryer basket. In a medium bowl or measure stir together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and spice. With a fork cut in the butter until smallish pieces form. Drizzle in the canola oil and toss it into the flour mixture with your fork. Stir in the pear and dried cranberries. Depending on the juiciness of the pear, your dough should start to come together to form a damp mass. If it doesn't and seems to dry, drizzle in a teaspoon or two of milk. Drop 4-6 mounds of dough onto the prepared parchment paper, placing 2-3 mounds on each piece of parchment, and spacing the mounds at least an inch apart. You can use damp fingers to shape the mounds, if you'd like. Sprinkle the tops of the mounds with a little sugar. Put one dough-topped piece of parchment in your air fryer basket, put the basket in the air fryer, and air fry the scones at 320 degrees for about 15 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Remove the scones from the air fryer to cool and repeat the cooking process with the remaining dough.
