How to Make a Quick, Inexpensive Side Dish in Your Air Fryer Using a Bag of Coleslaw (Diabetic Friendly)

Writer: LeighLeigh

This is a simple, easy, and quick side dish that is inexpensive to make and tastes incredibly good. The air fryer turns a coleslaw mix into a slightly sweet, slightly savory side dish in 10-15 minutes. I add a couple of tablespoons of bacon crumbles (the kind that come precooked in a bag) to the coleslaw for a bit of smoky-salty flavor. You could also use a bit of chopped ham. The dish is great alongside meats--like pork chops--and it's a bit different from run-of-the-mill side dishes while still being easy to prepare. Enjoy!

Air Fryer Coleslaw and Bacon Side Dish -- Serves 4

8 ounces of packaged coleslaw mix (about 5 cups), preferably the kind with carrots

1-2 tablespoons of water

2 tablespoons of bacon crumbles

1/4 teaspoon of pepper

1-2 teaspoons of olive oil

1/2 teaspoon of onion powder

Spritz an 8-inch pan, dish, or silicone container with non-stick cooking spray and combine all the ingredients in the pan, tossing the coleslaw mix well to coat the strands of cabbage and carrot with the oil. Air fry the mixture at 360 degrees for 10-15 minutes, stirring it every five minutes or so. The cabbage mixture will caramelize just a bit, which will make it taste great. Let the mixture cool a bit before serving it hot.
