These quick French apple tarts are a blend of apple pie and cake. They're soft, filled with apples, and sweet without being cloying. The tarts are just right for a weekend treat, as the recipe makes only four tarts. That means you won't have temptation around for long. The tarts take minutes to mix up in a bowl--no mixer or fancy equipment needed. They cook in the air fryer in 20-25 minutes. I advise serving the tarts warm with vanilla ice cream alongside. You'll have a special dessert with minimum work and lots of complements! Enjoy!
Quick Air Fryer French Apple Tarts -- Makes 4
1/4 cup of canola oil
1 large egg
1/4 cup of milk
1/4 cup of sugar
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
1 teaspoon of vanilla
1/2 teaspoon of butter flavor/extract
1 cup of self-rising flour (or 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt)
1 cup of apple pie filling
1-2 tablespoons of cinnamon-sugar (1-2 tablespoons of sugar + 1/2-1 teaspoon of cinnamon)
In a medium bowl whisk together the oil, egg, milk, sugars, vanilla, and butter extract. Stir in the flour until just combined. Fold in the pie filling. Spritz four mini pie tins with non-stick cooking spray and divide the tart mixture between the four tins, smoothing the tops out a little. Sprinkle the tops of the tarts with cinnamon sugar. Spritz the tops with non-stick cooking spray and put two tarts in the basket of your air fryer. Put the basket in the air fryer and air fry the tarts at 320 degrees for 20-25 minutes or until deep brown. Remove the cooked tarts from the air fryer basket and repeat the cooking process with the remaining batter. Let the tarts cool in their tins for about 10 minutes before turning them out. The tarts reheat well in the air fryer. To warm the tarts, give them five minutes in the air fryer at 320 degrees.
