The title of this post says it all. These cookies take a few minutes to mix up and bake in less than 10 minutes in your air fryer. They are sweet, puffy, chewy, and taste mildly of Nutella. Nonetheless, the brand name stuff isn't necessary. I use a knock-off chocolate hazelnut spread from Aldi, which is less expensive and works quite well for the cookies. These are a light chocolate-type cookie, not the deep, dark variety, and they are great for munching with milk or a cup of tea or coffee. The recipe doesn't make many cookies, and they're best eaten after you remove them from the air fryer, warm, fresh, and fragrant with chocolate and hazelnuts. Enjoy!
Air Fryer Nutella Cookies -- Makes about 9 Cookies
1/3 cup of Nutella or similar chocolate-hazelnut spread
1 egg
3/4 cup of flour
1/4 teaspoon of baking powder
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda
1/8 teaspoon of salt
1/2 teaspoon of vinegar
Whole hazelnuts to top the cookies (optional)
Combine all of the ingredients in a bowl or pyrex measure until well blended. Cut 3-4 square pieces of parchment paper to fit in the basket of your air fryer (6-7-inches square). Place 2-3 balls of dough (about 1 1/2 tablespoons each) about an inch apart on each piece of parchment paper and, with your fingers, flatten the dough balls until they're about 3/4-inch thick. Place a hazelnut in the middle of each dough ball, if you like. Put one of the cookie-dough-topped parchment sheets in the basket of your air fryer and set the air fryer temperature to 320 degrees. Bake the cookies in the air fryer for about 8 minutes. They'll firm up on standing (if you overcook them--giving them about 10 minutes--the cookies will be more cake-like and less chewy). Let the cookies cool a few minutes and enjoy them while they are warm! Yum!
