Last year my dad and I collaborated on a project to publish Advent readings, reflections and recipes. Our hope was to give people a way to slow down and to nourish the soul as well as the body.
Dad passed away just before Thanksgiving. Although he is no longer with us here on earth, his Advent reflections are, and I will be offering those reflections again during the Advent season. A pastor for more than 50 years in the United Methodist Church, Dad lived his faith. He wanted all to hear and to know the Gospel and the love of God, alive in Christ and in us. Dad often quoted from 2 Timothy 1:12, "I know in whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day."
I hope that you will consider the Advent readings and reflections I'll post during the coming days and that they will bring you a sense of the amazing grace and love of God, made manifest in the birth of Jesus. God is in the manger and in us.
